From over 2,500 open submission works, the selectors have selected; the invited artists have accepted; the catalogue is ready to go to print and the 18th Discerning Eye Exhibition is almost upon us.

This year we have a distinguished panel of selectors.

Our artists are Gus Cummins RA and Lincoln Seligman. Gus Cummins is an award winning painter who studied at Sutton & Wimbledon Schools of Art (senior drawing prize) and at the Royal College of Art. He has also held a number of teaching jobs in many art colleges from the 1970s onwards including Croydon College of Art, Wimbledon School of Art and Chelsea School of Art and he is a tutor at the Royal Academy Schools.

This year's Critics are Julius Bryant, Keeper of Word and Image Department at the V&A Museum and Jackie Wullschlager, writer and chief art critic for the Financial Times. The works selected by Julius both from the open submission and his invited artists will reflect the wide range of national collections held by the V&A, which include watercolours, photography, pastels, designs and illustration. Jackie's section will include screenprints from Craigie Aitchison RA, a work from British ceramic artist Edmund de Waal and, of course, carefully selected 'fresh voices' from the open submissions.

Lincoln Seligman is a painter and sculptor, best known for his large scale works of art for modern buildings around the world. He will hang the greatest number of works at this year's exhibition and describes selecting from the open submissions as 'an enjoyably spontaneous exercise'.

Actor Peter Bowles, whose daughter Sasha won the Benton Purchase Prize at the 2008 ING DE exhibition, is one of our Collectors, together with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, interior designer and TV & radio personality.
