newsletter archive newsletter 11 - spring 2007 Exhibition review (2) the 2006 exhibition review (continued)He carried through the domestic theme at the Artists' Private View evening by appearing as his alter ego, Gladys, serving drinks from a cosied teapot, with sandwiches and iced biscuits also on offer.There were a record 2023 works submitted for entry to the 2006 Exhibition and with selectors guided to choose at least 25% of their section from the open submissions, an encouraging 36% of the total works hung came from that source. Furthermore, an impressive 67% of the artists whose works were on show came via the open submission process.Sales were a buoyant £84,476 and of the 443 works on sale, just under 26% sold (slightly below last year's figure of 27%, but up on the previous year). Of the artists whose work sold, just over 64% came via the open submission process, accounting for 53% of sales. The theme of the Friends' & Members' Private View evening on 15 November was 'Still Life', featuring a workshop and demonstration by artists, with opportunities for visitors to take up pad and pencil and hone their drawing skills. ![]() ′Gladys′ serves refreshments ![]() One of Stuart Pearson Wright′s rooms On 16 November, at the Artists' Private View, artists filled the gallery and cheered on prizewinners, details of whom are reported on pages 4 to 7 of this newsletter.We are now looking forward to November 2007 and the 16th annual exhibition.
