newsletter archive newsletter 2 - autumn 2002 Friends & members The Discerning Eye 'Friends and Members' scheme was introduced in November 2001. Members Membership is open to all artists for a fee of £40 per year. The membership fee entitles artists to submit for selection up to six works for our main exhibition in November. For non-members, the price of submitting six works for selection is currently £48.In addition, members will be informed of all other Discerning Eye activities and, where possible, will receive discounts to participate in such activities. Members will also have the opportunity to attend a special preview of the exhibition, and will receive a free exhibition catalogue and two Newsletters a year. Friends You can become a Friend of Discerning Eye for an annual fee of £10. Friends will be informed of all Discerning Eye activities and be invited to the special preview for Friends and Members.Friends will receive a free exhibition catalogue and two newsletters a year. Anybody purchasing a work from the main exhibition will automatically become a Friend for one year at no cost. The 'Friends and Members' scheme is organised by Mrs Jane Wright who until recently worked for The National Trust as a membership co-ordinator. 2002 Friends And Members Private ViewThis will take place on Wednesday 13th November 2002 after the Discerning Eye Debate. The debate commences at 6.00p.m. and the Private View at 7.00p.m. As part of the evening two of our Education Advisory Board members Tom Coates and David Gluck will be offering a personal guided tour/view of the 2002 exhibition for those in attendance. Discerning Eye will provide the liquid refreshment. Special Offer to Friends and Members For those Friends and Members who may be interested, The Discerning Eye has negotiated a special price on the portrait video "A Brush With Sewell" Usually only on sale at the shops of The Royal Academy and National Portrait Gallery, Friends and Members can purchase this at the exhibition for the price of £11.99 or via mail order by sending a cheque to The Discerning Eye c/o Parker Harris ref: video offer 15 Church Street Esher, Surrey KT10 8QS for a price of £13.99 including postage and packing. Offer ends 31st December 2002. The video features three artists who have all exhibited at the Discerning Eye, John Ward, Johnny Jonas and Michael Reynolds.
