bursaries 2003 - second bursary stuart pearson wrightFollowing the success of our first ever bursary, won by Jonathan Edgar of the Frink School of Sculpture, the Directors and the Education Advisory Board (in particular David Gluck) decided to award a second bursary, this time to a student at The Prince of Wales's Drawing Studio. As a result, our chief executive - Tony Humphreys - attended the 'Drawing Year 2002/03 Exhibition', along with David Gluck and our accountant Malcolm Wright. It was their job to select an artist to receive a Discerning Eye travel bursary of one thousand pounds. ![]() ′Dave′ by Stuart Pearson Wright ![]() ′Victoria Park Boating Pond in the rain′ by Stuart Pearson Wright They could make the award to either a single work or a body of works. Although there were a number of strong contenders to receive the award they were ultimately unanimous in their decision to award it to Stuart Pearson Wright for the extremely strong body of work that he had on show.Stuart was both surprised and delighted particularly as he was unaware that this award was actually going to be given on the night. One of the stipulations for use of the award is that it is used in part to visit a drawing collection somewhere else in the world.Stuart told us it comes at just the right time for him creatively. His initial thought was that for inspiration he might travel to either Cuba or Sri Lanka. We look forward to seeing the results of any works inspired by his travels. ![]() Copyright © 2002-2010 The Discerning Eye ~ Web site by Shepperton Software |
